Aurora Commons drop-in programming, also known as the neighborhood living room, is funded directly by corporate sponsors and individual donors so that healing and transformation are freed from the constraints of restricted funding.
While we believe that healing is not linear, we know that it starts with hospitality, the wecolming invitation to belong and participate in community. It begins with a warm welcome by name and the offering of our fully stocked self-serve coffee bar, a hot meal and a table big enough to share with others.
"I'm not used to people being nice to me. Everyone here has been so welcoming." -Commons Neighbor
We prioritize building trusted relationships with our neighbors experiencing homelessness over transactional ones, by providing person-centered and trauma-informed care. Our neighbors are the decision-makers and the ones driving their next steps in their journey toward health and healing.
“Being embraced for my individuality and accepting me as I am, it actually gives me
the opportunity to believe in myself again.” -DeShawn, Commons Neighbor
