Aurora Commons, also known as Aurora Avenue's neighborhood living room, is sustained by the generosity of corporate sponsors and individual donors. Their support allows us to create space for healing and transformation without the constraints of restricted funding.
While we believe that healing is not linear, we know it has a beginning. For us, that beginning is hospitality: the welcoming invitation to belong and participate in community. Curating a space where our neighbors feel seen, heard, and loved is at the heart of everything we do.
"This is my home. This is my place of normalcy." -Commons Neighbor
"You guys didn't make me feel like I was homeless. I felt like I was walking into a friend's home." -Another Commons Neighbor
We prioritize building trusted relationships with neighbors experiencing homelessness over transactional ones. Our person-centered, trauma-informed approach means our neighbors are the decision-makers, leading their own next steps toward health and healing.
“Being embraced for my individuality and accepting me as I am, it actually gives me the opportunity to believe in myself again.” -DeShawn, Commons Neighbor
